Transgenderism

Transgenderism. Here we have a mans arm dripping with pastel pink paint, and a woman’s arm dripping with baby blue paint. These are stereotypically "Boy and Girl" colors, but they shouldn't be! Being a transgender means to identify or express ones self as a sex different from what was assigned to you at birth. And guess what? That’s okay! Lately there have been huge movements in the transgender community. Caitlyn Jenner, identified herself as a female, Target Super Stores have gotten rid of the segregation between boys and girls in their toy isles, but there is still discrimination. Did you know 19% of trans identifying people experience domestic violence at the hands of family members due to non-conformity? And that doesn’t even come close to the whopping 78% of those who are discriminated through their schooling of grades K-12. Almost 90% of the transgender community faces discrimination in the work place due to their lack to conform to gender norms. The list goes on. While America is making steps in the right direction, there are plenty more steps to be taken. http://www.transequality.org/ is a website where you can learn more about and how to help the transgender community. Remember that you are all human beings, and that you all deserve rights.

Domestic Violence

Here we see a woman's hand stricken with fear as a man places a ring on her decaying finger.
Did you know that every 9 seconds a woman is battered in the U.S. alone? On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. This is an everyday problem for men and women alike, physical and emotional abuse are very real problems we need to see an end to. The commitments we make to our significant others are meant to bring joy into our lives, not fear. If you or someone you know feels or has felt abused or afraid, please don't hesitate to look for help. http://www.thehotline.org is a website where you can go to find this help. People care. And you matter.

Racial Discrimination

For the first image to open this project, you see a pair of arms in a blocking position. They're fragile but strong. Today in America we are hearing about a lot of police brutality. All lives matter, but right now there is serious discrimination specifically towards our African American community. I want us as a country and a family to do the best we can to stop the brutality, the unlawful behavior of our certain members in our justice system, and most importantly the discrimination. If you or someone you know feels or has felt discriminated against, please stand up for your rights as a citizen, and above all, your rights as a human being.
